Bio
Coach Vance Smith enters his first year as Head Football Coach bringing over a decade of experience and a proven track record of developing tough, disciplined offensive lines. Prior to stepping into the head role, he spent eight seasons as the Offensive Line Coach at Pace High School, helping build one of the region’s most consistent and physical fronts. Before that, he spent three seasons coaching the offensive line at Oak Mountain High School in Birmingham, Alabama.
A Pace High School alum, Coach Smith was recruited as a tight end to Auburn University in 2008. He transitioned to right tackle and played two seasons for the Tigers before a career-ending injury in the 2009–2010 season. Rather than stepping away from the game, Vance stayed on with Auburn as a student assistant, working closely with Offensive Line Coach Jeff Grimes and Offensive Coordinator Gus Malzahn. He was part of the staff during Auburn’s 2010 National Championship season, gaining invaluable experience and perspective at the highest level of college football.
Coach Vance Smith is a leader who brings passion, grit, and a player-first mindset to the program. He’s committed to building a culture of accountability, effort, and toughness both on and off the field.
He is married to Maegan, and they are proud parents to Harper-Kate (8) and Ryder (5).
